ANNOUNCING THE GLOBAL POSTABORTION CARE RESOURCE PACKAGE

 

On June 26, 2007, the USAID Postabortion Care Working Group launched the Global Postabortion Care (PAC) Resource Package.  The Global PAC Resource Package is a compilation of basic materials to assist program managers, clinical staff, and donors in developing or scaling up postabortion care programs.  The materials include:

Ø      A research compendium which synthesizes 400 research articles related to Postabortion Care from 1994 through 2004. 

Ø      A synopsis of policies, tools, curricula, service delivery guidelines with recommended policies, tools, curricula, service delivery guidelines for PAC programs.  All recommended documents are found in full on the website and the CD-ROM

Ø      Provider job aids and patient education information for use in service delivery programs and in the community including:

o       Wall charts

o       Client register

o       Chart checklist

o       Patient education brochure

o       Quick checklist pocket guide for providers 

o       WHO Medical Eligibility Wheel

o       Community Education Session for Bleeding in Pregnancy

Ø      The Facilitators Manual for a successful community mobilization activity which has been used in Bolivia, Peru, Kenya and now in Senegal                               

Ø      Results framework and indicators for PAC country programs

Ø      USAID postabortion care model

Ø      The Allocate model – a costing tool for postabortion care programs
