FIGO Awards in Recognition of Women Obstetricians/Gynecoogists

Every three years, FIGO honours women gynecologists and obstetricians predominantly from the developing world who in their daily practice or in their research laboratories have contributed significantly to the improvement of health care for women.

The next series of awards is likely tp take place - subject to approval by FIGO's Executive Board - in early 2009 prior to the XIX FIGO World Congress of Gynecology & Obstetrics in Cape town, South Africa.

ELIGIBILITY

Nominees must have made a special contribution internationally or nationally to promote the development of science and scientific research in the fields of gynecology and obstetrics, and, throughout their careers, have promoted better health care for women, mothers and their children. Plrevious recipients of this award are not eligible for inclusion and only one nomination may be made by each society. Nominations can only be made by a FIGO member society.
