FIGO is pleased to announce that Professor Hamid Rushwan has been appointed as Chief Executive.

Professor Rushwan is a senior Professor  and  Consultant  in  Obstetrics  and  Gynaecology with over 30 years’ experience. He has a  wide  range  of  international  expertise and has had an active involvement  in  the  field  of  women’s health for  the  last  two decades.

He has wide experience in project identification, proposal writing and fund-raising from national resources and International donor agencies.

Professor Rushwan has demonstrated  ability  and  success  in women’s health programme management  and resource allocation  activities  at  national  and  international  levels. He has contributed  to  the  implementation  of  many  successful  projects  and  the  establishment  of  viable women’s health institutions. He has a proven track record organising and conducting national, regional and international meetings, workshops, seminars and conferences.

Professor Rushwan has had lengthy experience  in  the  international  field  as  a  Senior  Professional  International  Civil  Servant  at  the  World  Health  Organization  and  the United Nations Population Fund. He has experience  in  initiating  and  maintaining  teamwork  and  collaborative  organizational  and  inter-agency  efforts.

Professor Hamid Rushwan resumed his duties in FIGO Secretariat last September 2007.
