Maternal Mortality Campaign letter signed by FIGO presented to G8 leaders
A letter supported by FIGO has been presented to G8 leaders.
FIGO joined forces with the International Confederation of Midwives, the International Council of Nurses, the International Pediatric Association and White Ribbon Alliance to sign a global open letter to G8 leaders representing 14.3 million midwives, nurses and doctors.
UK PM Gordown Brown accepts Maternal Mortality Campaign letter
A copy of the letter was handed to UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown in London recently – see picture – and was also presented to Prime Minister Harper of Canada in Ottowa by Canadian health-workers and the Canadian Make Poverty History Coalition. Similar handovers are scheduled to take place in Tokyo, Rome, DC and other G8 capitals. A copy of the letter may be found by clicking here.
White Ribbon Alliance members in a range of African and Asian countries have formed delegations to take the petition to the Embassies of the G8 countries in their own capitals.
