International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics

The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) - the only organisation that brings together professional societies of obstetricians and gynecologists on a global basis - would like to express its heartfelt support to the people of Haiti. 

As the Maternal Health Task Force enters its second year, it is increasingly focusing its program support on indigenous developing country initiatives.

Through a generous grant from the Fred H. Bixby Foundation, the Population Council has created the Bixby Fellowship Program to expand opportunities for recently trained social scientists and biomedical researchers in the health and population fields.

The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) - in its capacity as an organisation working for the betterment of women’s physical, mental, reproductive and sexual health and wellbeing - reaffirms its commitment to the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), a special international human rights treaty for women, which marks its 30th anniversary on 18 December 2009.

The Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC) issues guidelines on H1N1 ('swine flu').

Since its launch in November 2007, the FIGO Initiative for the Prevention of Unsafe Abortion has achieved significant success.   

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RCOG) issues guidelines on H1N1 ('swine flu').

On 1 December 2009, FIGO reaffirms its commitment to highlighting World Aids Day.

On 25 November 2009, FIGO reaffirms its commitment to the International Day For The Elimination Of Violence Against Women.

FIGO member the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) issues new materials and an update on H1N1 ('swine flu') to Fellows.
