UK suffering from sperm donor shortage
Monday, 25th January 2010A shortage of sperm donations is having an impact on fertility treatment in the UK, it has been reported.
Dr Allan Pacey, senior lecturer in andrology at Sheffield University Medical School, UK, reported that 85 per cent of applicants for sperm donation are rejected because of poor semen quality.
Blood test 'highly accurate' at determining foetal sex
Tuesday, 19th January 2010A blood test that can be carried out in early pregnancy is "highly accurate" at determining the sex of the foetus, a study has found.
The findings are of importance because the test allows the sex to be determined earlier and without invasive tests that carry a risk of miscarriage, Reuters reports.
