Professor Hamid Rushwan is the current FIGO Interim Chief Executive.
A senior Professor and Consultant in obstetrics and gynecology for over 30 years, Professor Rushwan has acquired a wide range of international experience and active involvement in the field of women’s health during the last two decades.
Professor Rushwan was the first Chief Executive at FIGO and also has significant experience in the international field as a Senior Professional International Civil Servant at the World Health Organization and the United Nations Population Fund.
Professor Rushwan initiated and provided major contribution to the establishment, management and activities of national and international non-governmental organisations in the area of women’s health and population. He is dedicated to continuing to contribute effectively to enhancing all worldwide efforts to establish and maintain high quality standards of healthcare and well-being for women.
