Tackling preterm birth: The FIGO PremPrep-5 Initiative
Date: Thursday 9 January 2025
Time: 13:00-14:30 UTC
Description:
Around the world, preterm birth persists as the primary contributor to neonatal and infant mortality. Further, those who survive preterm birth carry increased risk of short-term and long-term health complications. With 80% of preterm births occurring in low- and middle-income countries, demographical disparities demonstrate the critical need for easily accessible and effective interventions that can be enacted in low resource settings across the globe.
Published in January 2024, the FIGO PremPrep-5 Initiative describes five "quick wins" to address this need. The initiative describes simple and effective interventions for improving neonatal outcomes that can be implemented worldwide across varying demographical settings. A year after the launch, this webinar brings together leading experts to showcase the continued importance and accessibility of the FIGO PremPrep-5 Initiative. Widespread global uptake of these interventions will contribute to significant improvements in neonatal and maternal health outcomes globally.
This webinar is led by the FIGO Committee on Preterm Birth.
