Every day, approximately 830 women die from complications of pregnancy and childbirth and postpartum haemorrhage is the leading cause. The vast majority of these deaths are preventable.
Essential interventions to reduce this number, and the scores of women that live with short and long-term consequences as a result of PPH, include raising awareness of existing prevention and management methods, as well as training and equipping health care professionals who serve women during delivery.
See below a selection of resources for the prevention and management of PPH, with the aim of reducing maternal deaths and disabilities caused by heavy bleeding after childbirth.
