FIGO and ISOG announce the Israel Forum of the FIGO 2021 World Congress

The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), in collaboration with the Israel Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISOG), is excited to announce the Israel Forum of the FIGO 2021 World Congress.

Across four days from 25 to 28 October, ISOG will host FIGO members, partners and colleagues in the ancient and vibrant city of Jerusalem. The Israel Forum will be held at The Inbal Jerusalem Hotel and will include two days of live-streamed virtual World Congress content and two days of local in-person workshops, discussion and debate.

In anticipation of the Israel Forum, Dr Andre Lalonde, Chair of the 2021 Congress Organising Committee, said,

Visiting Jerusalem during the 2021 FIGO World Congress is an exciting opportunity not just to meet with colleagues for important professional debate and discussion, but also to participate in vibrant cultural exchanges. Visitors will have access to the virtual FIGO World Congress programme for two days, as well as a dedicated and focused in-person programme.

I am looking forward to my visit to Israel and to meeting with colleagues from around the world at the Israel Forum – part of the world’s leading event in gynaecology and obstetrics.

Following up, ISOG President Professor Ron Maymon said,

We are honored that Israel was selected to host the Forum for the FIGO World Congress. We highly recommend a visit to Jerusalem – a city that speaks to the major monotheistic faiths but is also a modern metropolis.

Within the conference itself, we will also be dedicating a day to our visitors whereby residents will be able to join a hands-on course while others will be taken on a professional tour to Nazareth to visit medical centres serving both the Arab and Jewish Israeli community.

We look forward to meeting old colleagues and making new connections at the upcoming Israel Forum.

FIGO converted our 2021 World Congress into a virtual event in early 2021, when it became apparent that the COVID-19 pandemic would make an in-person World Congress highly unlikely. We are excited that ISOG is able to offer this opportunity for our colleagues and friends to meet together to showcase clinical best practice, share the latest research and innovation, and discuss and influence policymaking, to ensure the health and rights of all women and girls.

The local programme

The local programme of the Israel Forum will run on 27 and 28 October 2021, between 08.30 and 17.30 local time (UTC+3). In parallel with the virtual FIGO General Assembly, ISOG will be presenting exciting and engaging workshops, discussion and debate.

The first day of local content will be made up of four workshops aimed at residents. Three sessions will be held in Hebrew with a fourth in English. A special trip has been arranged for international delegates on 27 October to visit Nazareth and its local medical centres. The second day of local content will be made up of keynote and plenary lectures, as well as parallel learning sessions and exhibition.

The host city – Jerusalem

The Israel Forum of the FIGO 2021 World Congress will be held at The Inbal Jerusalem Hotel. As Israel's capital – and largest city both in population and size – Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world, with a history going back 5,000 years. Holy to all three Monotheistic faiths – Christianity, Judaism and Islam – Jerusalem’s beauty lies in its juxtaposition of old and new. Whether you seek religious sanctity or cultural enrichment, the Old City offers it all. And with its modern buildings and landmarks in the new city, Jerusalem has something to offer everyone.
