Kangaroo Mother Care Joint Statement

Acceptance and promotion of kangaroo mother care (KMC) by professional associations is critical for its accelerated use to save newborn lives and improve outcomes globally.

This International Joint Statement was reviewed and endorsed by the Council of International Neonatal Nurses (COINN), the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), and the International Pediatric Association (IPA). It was developed by the KMC Acceleration Partnership (KAP), with support from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM), and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).

Organisations are encouraged to endorse this statement and disseminate it through their communication channels.

A press event was held at the National Press Club in Washington, DC on November 15.
