Biography

He was a Director of the Department of Clinical Oncology and Professor of OB/GYN at the Jikei University Hospitals in Tokyo, Japan until he retired from full-time clinical practice on March 31, 2019.  

He was active in the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (JSOG) for many years. Notably, he served as Secretary General and as Vice President, contributing especially to its international relations, including FIGO and Asia-Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AOFOG) .  

In AOFOG, he served as a chair of oncology committee, vice-president and finally the president from 2019 till May 2022. Currently he serves as immediate past president and adviser to Cervical Cancer Elimination Working Group. 

His research has mainly focused on gynecologic oncology and clinical trial of gynecologic malignancies. He was one of the founders of Japanese Gynecologic Oncology Group (JGOG) and Asian Gynecologic Oncology Group (AGOG).    

He published more than 200 peer-reviewed papers, chapters and books. 

His AOFOG presidential initiatives in Asia Oceania region and global expansion of AOFOG involvement in woman’s health continue to impact the specialty.
