This FIGO Webinar addresses the ethical and professional challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic for obstetric and gynecologic practice. Topics include the need to consider ethical obligations to each individual patient in the context of the entire population of patients served by a hospital, which is called frameshifting; the need to prevent ethically unjustified allocation of organisational resources away from obstetrics and gynecology, which is called ring-fencing; and the ethical challenges of responsibly managing organisational resources in a public health emergency.
